Ferocious Creatures
Dragons are absolutely the most incredible fantasy creatures, living only as myth and lore on other worlds. In this imaginary, magical world of Dreamland AI, however, Dragons thrive. This is an AI-dreamland of imagination, expect the unexpected. The people in Dreamland know dragons are real, and consider them to be the symbol of ultimate power, wisdom.
In this land, like others, a Dragon can be a ferocious monster of evil intent, raw ambition with sharp teeth and claws poised to tear you apart. Dragons in Dreamland have a surprising twist, they can easily discuss being your allies, of course, depending on what’s in it for them.
Dragons have earned their fierce reputation from the many encounters that ended badly. Warriors often accompanied workers, homesteaders, and scientists to go about their various tasks. The Warriors would apparently overreact to the approach of the dragon, taking a defensive stance, weapons ready, which turned out was not the best method for peaceful communication. Diplomacy turned out to be the best course of action, make a friend, not an enemy.
As they are so long-lived, some individuals have had numerous encounters with the settlers. Many Dragons were friendly and easy to speak to, but, there are several notorious dragons that are known to be easy to anger. The areas those occupy are avoided at all times.
Dragons are revered and respected, often included in feasts on celebrations. Frequently, dragon art and symbols of dragons have been used to bring luck. The settlers have regular dealing and trade with many of the older Dragons.
The Proto-Dragons
The Dragons of Dreamland today are not the same as their genetic predecessors. In the centuries since the arrival, and settlement of, Dreamland it’s ecosystem and its proto-dragons have been irreversibly altered by a profound wave of radiation. Because pre-colonization DNA is so sparse, researchers studying this planetary mutation rely heavily on archaeological findings and fossilized remains to piece together how these creatures evolved. It’s believed the Dreamland proto-dragons were possibly amphibians, the size of a small house cat, these creatures lived in a den in groups before their transformation.
Years after the Travellers’ arrival, proto-dragons were vastly different, becoming creatures soaring over modern Dreamland. The magical radiation that flooded the planet six centuries ago triggered rapid, unpredictable genetic changes throughout life in Dreamland. The changes affected the planet and surrounding space beyond its orbit. The mutations transmitted to all life forms, flora, and fauna all at once, nothing was left untouched.
After the event, the proto-dragons became the powerful, talented beasts we see today. Transformed, at an incredible rate, their magical abilities, great strength, and language skills developed and grew. As they continue to age, they continue to grow to enormous size, scientists have determined that the dragon life expectancy can be 800–1000 years, no one knows for certain as the arrival event was only 600 years ago.
Respect for the Powerful and Wisdom
The settlements of Dreamland AI were happy to leave them alone, the dragons are powerful, large beasts that have sharp claws. Adult dragons are the undisputed master hunters, the top of the food chain, and show no mercy during combat. Absolutely ferocious, but, sometimes reasonable, their sharp wit, combined with photographic memory, made the dragons cunning negotiators. Through accidental interactions with the curious creatures, respect for not only their immense power, but also their quick minds developed. Diplomacy was the best course of action, in a fight, many squads of defending Warriors were no match for a single Adult Dragon. As well, attacking the dragon would, undoubtedly, cause the swift execution of its revenge.
The challenge, from a safe distance of course, is to determine whether the dragon that has just begun heading towards you could be a possible friend. Anything besides a nearly indestructible enemy.
Apart from such factors as speech, intelligence, and cunning, dragons are less similar to humans than they are to wolves, tigers, or snakes.
The dragon’s deepest desires generally focus on the accumulation and protection of their hoards, the preservation of their dominion over their territories, and the pursuit of supreme magical mastery.
Dragons actively seek magic, secret stones, or ancient artifacts to amplify their already immense magical abilities.
The Dragon Life Cycle
In Dreamland, a dragon’s life cycle spans centuries. Progressing from a vulnerable hatchling to a massive, wise Great Wyrm. These mystical beasts grow through several periods of development: Egg, Wyrmling, Teen, Adult, Ancient, all slowly accumulating vast hoards of magic and knowledge.
Baby Wyrmling: 0–5
Wyrmling: The newborns or babies. They hatch from large eggs, around dog to horse-sized. Though physically capable of hunting and breathing rudimentary fire, they lack experience and emotional maturity. They stay around their nest as they grow larger, in just a few years they will venture out on their own. Explore the Baby Dragons Gallery.
Teen Dragon: 6–100
Teen Dragon: This adolescent phase brings rapid growth. They establish their first independent lairs and aggressively start hoarding wealth. They expand their fire breathing skills and magical abilities. Furthermore, they develop a terrific curiosity. Enough to approach people and talk to them in the wild, immensely frightening, one of the scariest hair tingling experience. Imagine, it’s like a giant silent cat stocking its prey, stealthiness, and then surprise are the objectives.
By far the most commonly encounter dragons are the Teens. With a diabolical dark sense of humour, a dragon will patiently wait to menacing passers-by from atop a sunny rock. A dragon’s idea of fun.
Adult Dragon: 100–800
Adult Dragon: (Age 101–800): Reaching physical and mental maturity, the dragon becomes so powerful it could be considered a civilization-level threat. Their scales harden, and their intelligence/magical prowess peaked.
Ancient Dragon: 800+
Ancient Dragon: Massive Titans. Their physical bodies may grow to over 100 meters in length, and they often develop mystical abilities like foresight, weather manipulation, or altered breath weapons. No dragon of Dreamland has aged to such an enormous number of years.
The Survivors
People, arriving on Dreamland from the space flotilla, went through very frightening times as they came in range of their new home. They had lost a ship, with many lives aboard, the other ships were frozen in space, only able to watch as it was ripped apart. There had been one explosion already, no one knew what was going to happen next, the fleet had committed to this path and all they could do now, is, continue. Malfunctions were affecting communications.
The further system-wide failures throughout the fleet caused panic, then terror. The crews could keep busy, working on pre-landing checklists. For the others waiting onboard time moved slowly, as if an eternity stood before you, the ships, still days away from the planet, manoeuvred for landing. There was no guarantee of a safe landing.
Once on the planet, as time past, they began to change. The created energy of the blast radiated outward out from the stricken ship. What was discovered to be a magical radiation impacts everything it touches. No one can escape the alterations to the DNA of all life on this fantasy dream world.
The changes brought about an unbelievable fast evolution of appearances, adding spectacular skills and abilities. Some transformed into Magic Users seeing the future, other magical users began creating and building, The Makers. Others became the defenders, Knights and Warriors in their frightening skeletal helmets, and amour. Those exoskeletal suits and masks provided protection. The first consideration was the radiation, but as it turned out the protection was mostly used against the mutating flora and fauna.
The leaders faced dyer choices for the people, conquer the world or fall victims to the fear, there was really only one choice, and that choice was simple. Only the strongest and most determined people had the bravery to explore the new world, risking their lives in the process. Scars so deep that they continue even today in their descendants centuries later.

Generating AI Images
Images of fantasy lands far and away from reality, lands that exist only in our imaginations. The Adobe AI generator can produce astonishing results, with reactions ranging from WOW… to EWW…
Using the Adobe AI feature to create these images has been remarkable. You direct the image generation, but; generating new images with the same settings renders different results each time. Some images are exciting, but others can be just awful or silly. You never know what you will get next.
As you use the feature it encourages you to try again, re-generate another batch if you do not get the results you were expecting. The depth of a scene the balance of colours, the fantastic blending of shapes creating a new reality out of an image. The reason we use AI is to go farther, see more, and to bring the power of imagination into reality. We should never let AI take away the thinking we can do, without our imagination there would never have been an AI. Use AI as an asset to build on your ideas, never stop thinking for yourself.
